Mike Biddle

Founder of MBA Polymers
MBA Polymers

Plastics are too valuable of a resource to bury or burn. In the last 20 years we developed and commercialized technologies that close the loop by mining plastics and other valuable resources from some of the most complex solid waste streams on the planet and creating products that directly replace virgin materials.

Our aim is to be the leading global plastics recycling company in the production of post-consumer recycled resins recovered from highly complex waste and to operate the most advanced plastics recycling plants in the world.

It’s a familiar, yet still astonishing story: MB&A (Michael Biddle & Assoc., now MBA Polymers) began in founder Dr. Mike Biddle’s garage in 1992, with his determination to prove that it was possible to recycle plastics from complex waste streams. Promising results soon moved the venture to a large scale pilot facility in Berkeley, California, and in 1997 to a small-scale production facility in Richmond, California, where plastics from a wide variety of commingled waste streams from all over the world were successfully recycled. Experience, technology, and capabilities grew right along with life-changing ideas.

Fast-forward through a few years of tireless determination and well-placed investments, and MBA Polymers has become the world leader in recycling plastics from end-of-life durable goods such as computers, electronics, appliances, and autos. The rm’s production facilities are international, mining plastics from some of the largest, plastics-rich waste streams in the world. Our state-of-the-art production units in Guangzhou, China and Kematen an der Ybbs, Austria have been operating since 2006, focusing on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).

And in the final months of 2010, we expanded to Worksop, United Kingdom, where our joint venture with the largest metal recycler in the British Isles and one of the largest in the world (EMR) produces post-consumer plastics from automotive shredder residue vs. recycling from ELV, appliances and electronics.

20 years after founding MBA Polymers, Mike Biddle has sold his shares and Elephant Equity had the chance to takeover 100 % of MBA Polymers Inc., including all patents and intellectual property developed of the last 20 years. Elephant Equity is a well-known investor in the field of waste management and recycling and active worldwide. As a new shareholder, Elephant Equity supports MBA Polymers ambition to develop, build and operate new production units in promising markets together with new and the existing partners Müller-Guttenbrunn Group and EMR. We want to follow Mike Biddle´s vision and make a change.

In 2017, MBA Polymers has entered into the Indian market and signed cooperation agreements with several Indian waste management companies in order to build and operate new production unit targeting initially a capacity of 50.000 tons of plastic waste per annum. MBA Polymers India aims to supply the promising Indian market with ABS, PP, HIPS.

In 2019 MBA Polymers acquired its first production site in Germany, in the heard of Saxony near Dresden and Meissen. With the new state-of-the art plant MBA makes use of the growing quantities of WEEE and post-consumer plastics in Germany and Europe and the global demand for post-consumer plastics. The site has a capacity to recycle 17,500 metric tons of waste electrical and electronic equipment. MBA Polymers has successfully comissioned the plant in 2020 and will in 2021 increase the value chain again. MBA Polymers will offer as well circular economy solutions and take-back programs for partner companies. The success story continues…
