Our History
Experience. Technology. Capabilities.
Dr. Mike Biddle
Plastics are too valuable of a resource to bury or burn. In the last 25 years we developed and commercialized technologies that close the loop by mining plastics and other valuable resources from some of the most complex solid waste streams on the planet and creating products that directly replace virgin materials.
Our aim is to be the leading global plastics recycling company in the production of post-consumer recycled resins recovered from highly complex waste and to operate the most advanced plastics recycling plants in the world.

It’s a familiar, yet still astonishing story: MB&A (Michael Biddle & Assoc., now MBA Polymers) began in founder Dr. Mike Biddle’s garage in 1992, with his determination to prove that it was possible to recycle plastics from complex waste streams. Promising results soon moved the venture to a large scale pilot facility in Berkeley, California, and in 1997 to a small-scale production facility in Richmond, California, where plastics from a wide variety of commingled waste streams from all over the world were successfully recycled. Experience, technology, and capabilities grew right along with life-changing ideas.

Fast-forward through several years of tireless determination and well-placed investments, and MBA Polymers has become the world leader in recycling plastics from end-of-life durable goods such as computers, electronics, appliances, and autos. The firs pilot plant in Richmond, California (USA) next to the company’s headquarter was used a show case for future plants. MBA Polymers ’s future production facilities have been developed international with the aim of mining plastics from some of the largest, plastics-rich waste streams in the world.
Therefore our second state-of-the-art production unit has been build in Guangzhou, China with a 40.000 tons p.a. capacity in 2006. In Hong-Kong we 2007 have set-up our trading unit focusing on trade and key-account management for Asia.
In 2007 in Kematen an der Ybbs, Austria we have successfully commissioned our third facility with a capacity of 50.000 tons p.a., focusing on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) in Europe. MBA Polymers Austria has been developed with our JV-Partner and Co-Investor the Müller-Guttenbrunn Group.
In 2010, we expanded to Worksop, United Kingdom, where our JV-Partner EMR Group Co-Invested and supplied post-consumer plastics from automotive shredder residue (ASR), appliances and electronics. The MBA Polymers UK plant was build with a capacity of 50.000 tons p.a.
This plants have been build by MBA Polymers Inc, the owner of the recycling technology and we kept if required a significant equity-stake as JV-Partner and organized the management, supply and sales under our brand under a long-term contract.
